Barack Obama's Speech in Berlin, Germany

As you may have heard, Barack has been in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia this week.

Today, he spoke in Berlin, Germany.

In a city where a wall once divided the free from the oppressed, he talked about tearing down the walls that divide all peoples so we can address our common problems -- the threats of terrorism and nuclear weapons, global warming and genocide, AIDS and poverty.

Watch Barack's historic speech and share it with your friends:

4th of July Parades

Fellow Democrats:

Just a quick reminder of the three "Fourth of July" parades tomorrow taking place in Sedro-Woolley, Anacortes, and Guemes Island.

Steve Crider and Brad Clure are bringing plenty of signs to carry in the parades in Sedro-Woolley and Anacortes respectively, for most of our Democratic candidates.

Brad and Steve both have masks of Hillary and Barack for you to try your hand at having some fun to lighten the day so if you are game - gentlemen, bring a dark sport-coat whilst a pant-suit would be appropriate for the Hillary imitator!

It is very helpful to grab some voter registration slips which we will have on hand and ask likely suspects if they are registered to vote as you encounter them. Don't forget to ask them if they might know someone who may need to register so you can simply give them a form (or two) to pass on...

So, once again here are some details on our 4th of July Parades!

All Democrats invited to march with us in the Sedro-Woolley Loggerrodeo Parade which will be Friday July 4th. We will line up at 10:00 AM at the Sedro-Woolley High School, 1235 3rd St. in Sedro-Woolley. Please come and bring signs, Kazoo's or anything fun, we'll have some signs and banners for the parades. Steve Crider is our contact for the Team Obama on this one too, at team@obama4freedom.com. To help with voter registrations, contact Dan Joiner at dan@wa-democrats.org on his phone 360-303-9192. Dan, Zach and Monica will be helping to organize for this, and will be registering voters before the parade and during the weekend events for the Rodeo. See more details below...

The Anacortes parade will be lining up on "O" St. near the Port around 2nd and Commercial in Anacortes at 10:00 AM. Come help register voters before the parade too. The parade will go south on Commercial and end at the Park on 10th and "N" St. for a Patriotic event. Contacts for the Anacortes parade are Isabel Jones at wa-democrats.org and Brad Clure at brad@clure.com or 360.920.3958 cell.

The "Famous Guemes" Parade is also on the 4th and Gail Nicolls is organizing for it, so contact her at guemesgail@cablerocket.com or her phone 360-293-9540. I understand the hot dogs are great!

Cheers and Best Regards,
Brad Clure

This just in from Steve Crider who is Heading up the LoggerRodeo Event from the Obama Team...

Dear Colleagues:

Here are the details for posting regarding those who wish to participate in the Skagit Democrats contingent in the Loggerodeo: Please Post and Forward to all who wish to receive this!

Event: 74th Annual Loggerodeo in Sedro Woolley, WA

Date: Friday, July 4th

Time: Parade starts 11:00 a.m.

Pre-Parade Rendezvous Time & Place: Gather between 9 and 10 am. We will not know our place in the line-up until the morning of the event, but in general it is all nearby the Sedro Woolley High School and side streets. Loggerodeo Parade Organizer table will be corner of Third and Talcott Streets to provide information & directions between 9 – 10 a.m.

Additional rendezvous point: Katherine Chaplin has offered up her home for coffee and a small gathering for folks, from approx. 8:30 am onward. They live in a historic old Sedro residence at 315 Warner St., just a couple blocks from the high school and general staging area. Will try to post details there on her fence of our staging location for late arrivals.

Parade lasts about an hour & half depending on where we are placed/start.

Loggerodeo Parade Rules:

* Political Groups must be "patriotic" theme.
* No alcohol consumed or carried by parade entries.
* We may pass out handouts, information, etc. as well as candy (but not from a moving vehicle)
* Parade officials will check for safety hazards.

Our Theme: Skagit Democrats United for Progress, Peace, and Prosperity

* Obama and Clinton supporters welcome to join together in a show of unity and purpose for the Fall election. United we stand, Divided we fall!!!
* Other Democratic Party Candidates and reps/supporters welcome to join in, including Gov. Christine Gregoire team, & other state & local races & officials.
* Dress colorful! Candidate T-shirts welcome. This tends to be a very "Red, White, & Blue" type of event – but all creative and fun dress is welcome. This is a very easy going, family friendly community event.
* Participants: Be prepared to sing, make some noise, bring along some musical devices if you wish for joining in a variety of traditional & rousing songs such as "Yankee Doodle", "This Land is Your Land", "Happy Days are Here Again", "Blowin' in the Wind", etc. I'll have some copies of song/lyric sheets made up to pass out. We shall "make a joyful noise" in a positive and spirited manner!
* BE Self sufficient and self contained: Bring your own signs, placards, water bottle, snack, good walking shoes, sunscreen or raincoat. I'M NOT YOUR MOTHER!!! This is an ad hoc gathering so bring your own creativity and resourcefulness to bear – and don't expect others to have done it for you.
* Contact for questions, comments, concerns, RSVP: Steve Crider (H) 360-757-3130; e-mail: stevecrider@amyskitchen.net
